Week 3 Term 2 reflection

Something interesting I learnt this week was I learnt about the roman political system in classics and the Cursus Honorum. It was interesting because it gave me a deeper understanding of political life in the roman republic as well as helping me understand how the republic decayed with less and less people following the cursus honorum as time went on.

Week 7 Reflection:

Something interesting I learnt this week was I learnt about the Waikato War, it was a part of New Zealand history I had never learnt about before and it was interesting seeing how the colonial administration reacted to the maori kingitanga movement and the legacy that has left to this day.

Week 6 Reflection:

Something interesting I learnt about this week in classics was the representation of mythological figures in art throughout time, beginning with the gothic styles of the dark ages to the romanticism of the 1800s and all the various styles in between. I learnt about how Greek and Roman sculptures were always having the weight of the sculpture on one side of the body and how during the renaissance sculptors tried to copy that style. Overall I find art history rather boring but this lesson was actually rather interesting.

Something interesting I learnt this week

This week something interesting I learnt was Heracles and his twelve labours, my favourite labour to learn about was the man eating horses of King Diomedes and how Heracles fed Diomedes to his horses to tame them for captivity.
